What do the Peculiarists stand for?
Peculiarism is a
philosophy that recognizes and embraces the distinct character of a nation, particularly if it differs from other nations in areas such as territorality and choice of citizenship.
In other words, we believe that the Republic of Talossa doesn't have to be a nation like every other nation in this world, with exactly the same prescribed trappings of nationhood.
Being different won't make us something like a lesser nation. On the other hand, this shouldn't keep us from including some "derivatist"
elements in our plans and programmes, as we don't have to be clinically preoccupied with looking original in every detail.
The philosophy of the MRP includes elements of European liberalism.
We want to reduce a certain amount of stateism that our opponents are promoting, for example when it comes to writing descriptions of Ministries into laws and the Constitution. Not every initiative has to be designed and started by the state.
One long-term dream of the MRP is
a liberalisation of some constitutionally prescribed
requirements in elections, under the assumption that responsible citizens will know best whom they could trust, regardless of how long a candidate in Senate or Presidential elections has been around, and regardless of the offices the candidates have been serving in before.
The R in our name is very important - we want that Talossa will remain a republic in all weather, even under unforseeable circumstances of a
possible (re)union of the two existing Talossas. Ar least two of the concurring political parties are not so decided in this.
Last but not least, in our name there's the word Movement instead of Party.
This is to say that we're sort of an association of likeminded spirits, whose individuality (and peculiarity)
will not be sacrificed on an altar of a streamlined party organisation.
Sort of, every member of the MRP is a distinctive political wing of his own.
